The running back is staying with the Jets on a lucrative extension. It's on Breece Hall to prove the Jets made the right decision.

Perhaps things are truly changing for the better in Florham Park for the New York Jets and head coach Aaron Glenn. In the past, most contract negotiations with current players looking for new deals would be dragged out into training camp. But, general manager Darren Mougey was determined to do right by running back Breece Hall, agreeing to a three-year , $45 million contract extension with one of his top offensive players.

Hall’s new contract includes $29 million in guaranteed money and makes him the fourth highest paid running back in the league behind Christian McCaffrey, Saquan Barkley and, most recently, De'von Achane. For the Jets, it’s another important piece retained to an offense that has potential to be a very dangerous unit under new offensive coordinator Frank Reich.

Besides Hall and Garrett Wilson, the Jets traded for quarterback Geno Smith and used two of their first-round picks at the 2026 NFL Draft to select Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq and Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. Rounding out this unit is Adonai Mitchell, acquired in the Sauce Gardner trade last year and tight end Mason Taylor, the team’s second-round pick in 2025. For Hall, he got what he wanted.

It’s no secret that he has a high opinion of himself and wanted to be paid like a top running back. He’s been a good soldier for the most part during all of the losing seasons he endured with the Jets, even when his cryptic tweets voicing his displeasure and mopey attitude made it look like he had no desire to stay in New York. But, to quote Peter Parker's Uncle Ben from the Spider-Man universe, "With great power comes great responsibility.
