Indiana Hoosiers News: Curt Cignetti, Chip Ganassi and liking winners
Chip Ganassi and Curt Cignetti have a few things in common as Western Pennsylvania men who love winners and winning.
Chip Ganassi Racing driver Alex Palou (10) talks with team owner Chip Ganassi on Saturday, May 9, 2026, ahead of the Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. | Kristin Enzor/For IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti is perhaps the most renowned winner in all of college football. He’s done so at each of his stops as a head coach all the way to Bloomington, where he took one of the sport’s losingest programs to a national championship in just two seasons.
On Sunday, he’ll have the honor of driving the pace car in the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500. Afterward, he’ll have the honor of joining perhaps the most renowed winner in all of motorsport, Chip Ganassi. The two men from Western Pennsylvania have done a lot of winning in their careers, covered in this piece from IndyCar that I’d suggest reading before the race.
