Auburn Ends LSU’s Season in Second Round of SEC Tournament
And now his watch has ended
Unfortunately for LSU the 2026 baseball season has officially come to a close before Memorial Day as the Tigers (30-28) fell to Auburn (37-18) 3-1 in round two of the SEC Tournament. “Our players gave everything they had in this tournament,” Jay Johnson said. “I thought our players fought and gave great effort throughout the week.
It’s hard, it’s raw right now. You could hear a pin drop in our dugout after the final out tonight. Until the last out we believed we could come back and win the game.
” LSU got on the board first in the fourth inning. Derek Curiel led off the inning with a double, and was later brought home thanks to a John Pearson sacrifice fly. Unfortunately the lead wouldn’t hold, as Auburn catcher Chase Fralick hit a solo shot in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game 1-1.
Auburn took the lead in the fifth inning when Jack Ruckert made a costly mistake. With two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ruckert fielded a chopper and made an errant throw trying to get the runner at third. It was way off target and Auburn was rewarded with a 2-1 lead.
