This weekend, teams across the MPSSAA will battle for the right to call themselves the best in the state. And two Bayside South teams will be featuring in state championship baseball and softball games this weekend.
Mardela Softball and Stephen Decatur Baseball each earned their spots in Saturday, May 23, state title games by winning in the state semifinals on Tuesday. Mardela is looking to go back-to-back as state champion, while Decatur is looking for its first baseball state title to bring back to Berlin. Mardela comes into the game undefeated, and very few Bayside rivals could come close to it, as the Warriors won each Bayside game by at least five runs this seasons. After winning the Bayside Championship, Mardela earned victories over Snow Hill, Pocomoke, Patuxent and South Carroll to earn its spot in this year's 1A title game against Boonsboro.
