East Hardy returns to states; Petersburg stays alive; Keyser's season ends

BAKER, W. Va. — The reigning Class A champion will officially defend its crown, as East Hardy punched its ticket to the state tournament.

The Cougars (19-9) defeated Tucker County, 13-0 in five innings to win the Class A, Region II final on Thursday. Evan Hamilton and Mason Hamilton both went yard. Evan Hamilton's came in the third inning on a three-run tater to right.

He finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs. Mason Hamilton's was a solo shot in the bottom of the first to center. He went 2 for 3 with three RBIS.

Levi Price added two hits and two stolen bases, while Mason Wilkins drove in three runs. Evan Hamilton struck out eight across three shutout innings, joining Shayne Sisler and Dayton Dove for a combined no-hitter. East Hardy advances to the state tournament for the third consecutive season and eighth overall.

The Class A tournament begins Saturday, June 6, at Marshall University's Jack Cook Field. Petersburg 4, South Harrison 3 LOST CREEK, W. Va.
