There was a great disturbance in The Force last night and it sounded like a guttural “geaux tigahs. ” Ed Orgeron is returning to LSU football. He is joining Lane Kiffin’s staff in a “special assistant to recruiting and defense” role.
Orgeron has worked under Kiffin at both Tennessee and USC, and Kiffin mentioned Coach O in his introductory press conference. The two first worked together at USC in 2001 under Pete Carroll. “I’m excited to bring Coach Oregon back to LSU,” Kiffin said in the official announcement.
“He brings us tremendous value with his ability to recruit elite players nationally, but especially the impact he can have for us recruiting the great state of Louisiana. Coach O understands my expectations and commitment to being a championship program. I look forward to seeing him with recruits and his intensity working with our defensive players.
