Shawnee Heights baseball clinches regional championship over Lansing
Shawnee Heights baseball edged Lansing in a thrilling regional championship on Wednesday. It's the Thunderbirds third straight regional title.
Shawnee Heights baseball was the only Shawnee County team to play its regional championship on Wednesday, May 20. The Thunderbirds earned a narrow victory to hoist the regional title, sending them to next week's Class 5A State Tournament. The Thunderbirds defeated fellow United Kansas Conference rival Lansing 3-2.
Shawnee Heights opened the game with two runs in the first inning. Gabe Escobar started things with a double to right field. Cayden Lindsay moved Escobar to third base off of a single.
