Official | Germany announce 26-man squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup Germany have announced their 26-man squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The biggest surprise is the return of Manuel Neuer to the squad. The 40-year-old retired from international football in 2024 after the European Championship, but has been convinced to return for one last dance in the US.

This means that for Oliver Baumann, who Julian Nagelsmann had confirmed to be number one in the summer , will have to play as a backup to Neuer. Other notable inclusions are Nadiem Amiri (Mainz) and Lennart Karl (Bayern), the latter of which made his debut in the last international break. Germany will begin their tournament on the 14 June against Curacao before facing Ivory Coast (20 June) and Ecuador (25 June).
