This weekend’s Formula 1 race, the Canadian Grand Prix, is a unique one on this year’s schedule, at least as far as how you can watch from home. While Apple TV is the new streaming home of Formula 1 racing this season, you can also tune in to this week’s race on Netflix – a first for that platform, but it makes sense as they’re the home to the wildly popular series Formula 1: Drive to Survive . (In return, Netflix has given Apple the streaming rights to Season 8 of that series, which has been available on both platforms since February.
) You can catch all practices and qualifying races on both Netflix and Apple TV this week. (F1 TV Premium, the subscription service that was previously available as a comprehensive hub to watch every race, is part of Apple TV now and is included at no additional cost for Apple subscribers. ) On Apple promises plenty of alternate feeds at every race this weekend too, including a Driver Tracker that offers a bird’s-eye view of the race; real-time telemetry and timing; a mixed onboard feed that automatically switches between onboard cameras; and podium feeds that dynamically follow the drivers running in P1, P2, and P3 throughout each race.
