Harper left the game after a collision with Chet Holmgren late in the third quarter.
He landed awkwardly on his leg and went back to the locker room. Harper seemed fine as he jogged back to the bench. However, the Spurs’ training staff immediately instructed him to return to the locker room for further evaluation.
Shortly, the Spurs announced Harper had been ruled out due to a right leg injury. Here’s the video of this incident: Harper played 25 minutes, scoring 12 points and three assists on 5 of 10 shots. He played 47 minutes in Game 1 after it went to double overtime.
Harper has been filling in for De’Aaron Fox at the point of attack for the Spurs, so it’s a tough blow given San Antonio is running out of options at the one. Harper had been excellent in the role, especially in Game 1, after he dropped a historic stat line of 24 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and seven steals. If Fox doesn’t return and Harper is ruled out for an extended period, the Spurs’ offense could struggle heavily, especially in crunch time.
Spurs can’t stay afloat after Dylan Harper’s injury The Spurs struggled down the stretch after Dylan Harper’s injury exit. They cut OKC’s lead to two early in the fourth, but from that point on, they scored only 16 points in the final nine minutes. San Antonio struggled against OKC’s ball pressure without an additional ball handler like Harper.
