No more Aaron Rodgers speculation ever for Arizona Cardinals
Rodgers has signed with the Steelers and has made his retirement plans known.
The Arizona Cardinals had some brief Aaron Rodgers rumors this offseason. They didn't last long, and they will not return again. Why?
Well, Rodgers officially re-signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers for 2026, and, if he holds true to his word, he will retire after this season . He is giving it one more shot. Rodgers played for the Steelers last season on a one-year deal and then took his time to decide whether he would return to play this coming season.
The Steelers hired Mike McCarthy to replace Mike Tomlin as head coach, giving Rodgers the possibility to reunite with his original head coach with the Green Bay Packers . But people tried to connect Rodgers to the Cardinals because he hadn't re-signed, the Cardinals had no good plans at quarterback for 2026 and added coaches he would have some connection to. There was never any real meat to those connections, but it did create some interesting discussion for fans.
With only Carson Beck under contract at quarterback for next season, if Rodgers had not said he will retire following this season, perhaps the rumor mill would have started again. For content creators, this just takes away a possible storyline for 2027. Other than that, no one ever really though Rodgers would play for the Cardinals.
