Haslett and DeWitt advance to Diamond Classic Quarterfinals
EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Diamond Classic continued on Wednesday at Michigan State’s McLane Stadium and saw Haslett defeat Portland 13-2, and DeWitt defeat Lakewood 10-3. Portland got off to a hot start, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, but Haslett would turn the tables and score 13 unanswered runs.
In the second game of the night, DeWitt was determined to get its bats going early, scoring four runs apiece in the first and third innings, getting off to an 8-0 lead. Lake Odessa Lakewood would score three runs in the top of the fourth inning as they cut their deficit to five, but Dewitt would add another two runs in the bottom of the fifth to put the game out of reach. Up next: Haslett will face Okemos on Thursday, May 21, with first pitch scheduled for 5:00 p.
m. DeWitt will face Mason on Thursday, May 21, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p. m.
