Dylan Harper’s Game 2 Injury Draws Concern From Sports Doctor

Yahoo Sports

A sports doctor raised concern over Dylan Harper’s apparent leg injury during the Spurs’ Game 2 loss to the Thunder.

The San Antonio Spurs dropped Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday night, falling 122-113 to the Oklahoma City Thunder as the series was evened at one game apiece. More concerning for San Antonio, however, was the apparent leg injury suffered by guard Dylan Harper in the third quarter after an awkward landing following a collision with Chet Holmgren. Early speculation has centered around a possible hamstring injury — notably the same type of issue Thunder star Jalen Williams also appeared to aggravate in Game 2, forcing him to exit the game and not return.

If Harper did indeed suffer a hamstring injury, longtime NBA and NFL sports doctor and physical therapist Evan Jeffries outlined the possible recovery timelines and concerns surrounding the severity of the injury. According to Jeffries, if the issue is simply hamstring tightness, Harper could be considered day-to-day, which would represent the best-case scenario. A Grade 1 strain would typically carry a recovery timeline of one to two weeks, while a Grade 2 strain could sideline him for closer to a month.
