After nearly five seasons away from coaching, former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron has agreed to a deal to return to the Tigers under Lane Kiffin’s staff.
His role will be the special assistant to recruiting and defense. Coach O spent five seasons with the Tigers and led them to a National Championship in 2019 with a team made up of Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, and Ja’Marr Chase. Across all five seasons in Baton Rouge, Orgeron led them to a 51-20 record with a 4-1 record in postseason play.
With the hire, this would allow the former head coach to be on the ground and on the road recruiting with and without Kiffin present. It’s important to note that Orgeron and Kiffin have a close relationship that spans over 10 years.
