Yahoo Sports

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin explained how he's keeping his players accountable to show up for team activities this year.

The NFL has a standard that is set for players to participate in team activities during the season and offseason. Lane Kiffin is bringing that standard to LSU. During an appearance on “ Pardon My Take ” that was published on Wednesday, Kiffin said he has a fine system in place that incentivizes players to do their jobs.

“With NIL and the portal, there’s a lot of problems that have been created,” Kiffin said , via a transcription from On3. “I think with them getting paid, I don’t think that’s as challenging. I don’t think it’s as challenging to get guys to do things because we’re paying you.

If you don’t want to do it, there’s a fine system, just like the NFL. I find it’s actually easier. “They kind of, in their mind, think they’re like pros now – which is good.

That’s how we talk to them. So you’ve got high expectations. ” More News: Cardinals Must Play Carson Beck Sooner Rather Than Later BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA – DECEMBER 01: Lane Kiffin speaks at a press conference as he is introduced as the new head football coach of the LSU Tigers at Tiger Stadium on December 01, 2025 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
