Last season proved to be quite the productive one for the Philadelphia Phillies ’ slugger Kyle Schwarber, as he would get entangled in a home run race with the Seattle Mariners ’ Cal Raleigh, ending the year with a National League-leading 56 home runs to his name.

Schwarber’s production didn’t just come in any regular season, as it was a contract year, with his deal in the City of Brotherly Love expiring at the end of the campaign. This would be one of the main talking points surrounding Philadelphia in the offseason, until it was announced that the 33-year-old would be returning on a five-year deal totaling $150 million. From that moment, all eyes would be on the Phillies’ slugger to see if he could replicate his numbers from the prior year.

It’s safe to say that he’s been managing to live up to those expectations, currently hitting a league-leading 20 home runs through Wednesday night’s action, with his closest competition being the Chicago White Sox ’s Munetaka Murakami.
