Reports: Mavericks Looking Into Jon Scheyer
Fortunately, we don’t expect much to come of this.
WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 27: Head coach Jon Scheyer of the Duke Blue Devils looks on during the first half of a game against the St. John's Red Storm in the Sweet Sixteen of the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at Capital One Arena on March 27, 2026 in Washington, DC. From his point of view, it makes sense. Scheyer has shown a striking command of the game, an ability to rapidly adapt to changes in the game, and of course, he has a tight relationship with Cooper Flagg, who played for him at Duke. In fact, his mother, Kelly Flagg, once said that “Cooper would run through a brick wall for that man.
” So it makes perfect sense for Dallas. For Scheyer, though, it may make less sense. First, he’s no Will Wade.
Scheyer has built a very interesting team and he has made commitments to those players. Second, he’s in a great situation at his alma mater, and if he wants a lifetime job, he’s got it. Third, he’s got a young family, and he seems to be very devoted to them.
