Washington Huskies extend offer to Maui Tonata, No. 1 ranked offensive tackle in 2028 class

Since Jedd Fisch took over in January 2024, the Washington Huskies have had a lot of success on the recruiting trail along the offensive line. Now, the Huskies have their sights set on the nation's No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2028 class, Maui Tonata, after extending an offer to him on Friday.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound recruit is ranked as the No. 8 player in the country by 247Sports and has very quickly become one of the most coveted underclassmen in the nation. He holds 28 offers, with Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and many other Big Ten and SEC programs vying for his services.

Tonata is blessed to receive an offer from the University of Washington, congratulating him on receiving a spot among the nation's top prospects. The 20-year-old athlete displays impressive athleticism in the open field, showcasing elite blocking skills to pull and get out in open space as a lead blocker on both runs and screen plays. His traits also allow him to climb to the second level with ease, creating holes for ball carriers behind him.

Fisch's staff has already extended offers to the top five players in the state, including Tonataโ€™s running mate Mataio Fano, who is the nation's No. 2 offensive tackle in the class. The Huskies are continuing their efforts to hand out more offers in 2028 and Utah appears to be a hotbed for talent.
