Bears sign running back who had a brief stint with Broncos in 2024
The Bears are signing RB Salvon Ahmed, who had a brief stint on the Broncos' practice squad in 2024.
The Chicago Bears are signing veteran running back Salvon Ahmed , according to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz . Denver Broncos fans might remember Ahmed (5-11, 197 pounds) having a brief cup of coffee with the Broncos during the 2024 NFL season. After losing Tyler Badie to a back injury that year, Denver signed Ahmed to its practice squad.
The Broncos ended up cutting Ahmed just one week later as other running backs returned to health. After being cut by Denver, Ahmed landed with the Indianapolis Colts , and he was set to compete for a rotational role going into preseason last summer. Ahmed suffered a gruesome ankle injury at practice with the Colts last August, and he spent the entire 2025 regular season on injured reserve.
Ahmed has since recovered and he will now get a fresh start in Chicago. The 27-year-old running back totaled 867 yards from scrimmage and scored six touchdowns while playing for the Miami Dolphins from 2020-2023. He has not appeared in a regular season game since being cut by Miami in 2024.
