Atlanta Flash Flood Warning as Torrential Rain Inundates Downtown
A life-threatening situation was unfolding as flash flooding hit the densely populated city, with hundreds of thousands at risk.
A flash flood warning remained in effect across parts of metro Atlanta on Wednesday evening as torrential rain inundated downtown streets and major highways, with authorities warning of life-threatening conditions. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Peachtree City said: The warning covered eastern Fulton and west-central DeKalb counties and will last until 11:15 p. m.

, thunderstorms had already dumped between 2 and 3 inches of rain across the city, with additional rainfall expected. Flash flooding was reported along the I-75/I-85 corridor near downtown. Some areas recorded even higher amounts.
Live footage shared by Fox 5 Atlanta showed heavy flash flooding near the I-75/85 corridor, with one of the merge ramps completely inundated. The downtown connector in Atlanta has flooded. 6 inches of rain in about an hour.
