The Indiana Fever returned to the WNBA schedule for an evening matchup at home against the Portland Fire. Clark isn't playing, though. That news didn't come out until the afternoon, and it's a bummer for all hoping to watch the third-year guard.
The Fever still have tons of talent, and Kelsey Mitchell will now be looking at even more shots than usual. But for a league that draws a lot of attention thanks to Clark, it's not ideal. Why isn't Caitlin Clark playing tonight?
Clark was ruled out due to an injury. The Fever announced that a back injury would be keeping Clark on the sideline, making the determination public less than two hours before tip-off. Clark has had to get her back worked on during games already this season, which isn't ideal for a player who missed so much of the 2025 campaign with various ailments.
