Former Warriors coach a 'candidate' for Bulls head coaching vacancy

After two seasons under Steve Kerr as an assistant coach, 18-year NBA veteran Jerry Stackhouse could be closing in on his first head coaching job.

The Golden State Warriors lost assistant coach and former 18-year NBA veteran Jerry Stackhouse this offseason as he departed the franchise at the expiration of his contract. After two seasons with Golden State, Stackhouse is now looking for another coaching opportunity. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, that opportunity could come with the Chicago Bulls .

Stein reported Wednesday that Stackhouse "has emerged as a candidate. " Although Stackhouse has not yet worked as an NBA head coach, he certainly boasts plenty of NBA experience. Beyond his playing career, Stackhouse has shown an ability to develop young talent, having won a title with the Toronto Raptors ' G-League affiliate as their head coach in 2017.

That roster included notable NBA names like Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, Jakob Poeltl, Jared Sullinger and Delon Wright. If unable to secure the gig with Chicago, there's a sure chance that Stackhouse will be considered for other assistant coaching vacancies, if not another head coaching opportunity.
