Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher River Ryan is back from his hamstring injury , but the Dodgers will keep him in the minors as he continues to ramp up to speed. Ryan began the year in Triple-A because the Dodgers wanted to take his recovery from Tommy John surgery slowly, and he made just two starts in the minors before landing on the injured list with a hamstring injury. Through those two starts, he allowed five runs through seven innings, four of which were earned.

He made his first start since landing on the injured list Friday, and clearly felt much better than he did earlier in the season. The right-hander allowed just one run on two hits through four innings of work, striking out four batters in the process. Despite his strong start, though, the Dodgers are still angling to take their time with the prospect.

โ€œWe need some time to get River built up,โ€ Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said . Ryan made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in the 2024 season, only making four starts before going down with an elbow injury. He only allowed three earned runs through his four starts, striking out 18 batters in 20.
