Tim Monahan replaces former Turpin High School boys basketball coach Connor Roberts, who resigned after three seasons.

Turpin High School has named Tim Monahan as its new head boys basketball coach , pending school board approval. He replaces Connor Roberts, who stepped aside after leading the Spartans for the past three seasons, including a run to the district finals in 2025. This past season, Monahan was a varsity assistant coach for the OHSAA Division I state champion Princeton Vikings .

Monahan and his family have called Anderson Township home for many years. He was the head boys basketball coach at McNicholas from 2009 to 2025. He had 216 wins, second in school history, where he was a three-time Greater Catholic League coach of the year, three-time District 16 coach of the year, two-time GCL champ, eight-time sectional champ, and a district championship in 2021.

Monahan also runs the Xcel Youth Basketball program, known for player development, summer camps and AAU teams at various levels. “I’ve always admired his coaching and his teams. They were well prepared and tough as nails; they backed down from no one.

The kids in his programs always play hard for each other and play hard for him. I am sure our guys will step up to the challenge and I can't wait to see the Spartans compete in the future,” Turpin athletic director Tony Hemmelgarn said in a press release. In the same release, Monahan said: “I am looking forward to getting into the gym, building relationships with players and creating a culture of toughness, teamwork, discipline and player development.
