The Boston Red Sox are going to have to wait even longer for star outfielder Roman Anthony to return to the field after suffering a setback in his return from a wrist injury.

Anthony, 22, was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier this month with a right wrist sprain after fouling off a pitch awkwardly. Though he has made some progress in his recovery, playing catch for the first time last Friday and noticeably not wearing a brace, the sophomore outfielder still is a ways away from playing. After experiencing soreness while taking swings before Boston's game on Monday against the Kansas City Royals, Anthony has been shut down from swinging a bat until Thursday at the earliest.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy gave an update on the injured star, emphasizing that he's "probably frustrated" and wants to get back to the field. โ€œRomanโ€™s always level-headed regardless of how things are going,โ€ Tracy said, per MassLive's Christopher Smith . โ€œHe believes in his ability.

I think heโ€™s probably frustrated. โ€œI think his mind was like, โ€˜Iโ€™m getting back soon. ' And then that little motion with the swing still bothers it.
