Kentucky basketball drops Gonzaga series from non-conference schedule
Mark Pope's Kentucky Wildcats and Mark Few's Gonzaga Bulldogs have halted a six-year series after four games. They won't play at Rupp Arena in 2026.
Kentucky and Gonzaga have discontinued their six-game basketball series after four seasons. Both programs mutually agreed on the decision to cancel the game, which will allow the teams to search for new nonconference games this upcoming season. The series began in 2022, with a home-and-home also set for 2026-27 at Rupp Arena and 2027-28 at McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Washington.
This past season, Gonzaga defeated Kentucky 94-59 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, on December 5. The Bulldogs ended up winning three of the four meetings over the Wildcats. Two of the loses came when John Calipari was leading Kentucky (2022 at Spokane Arena, 2023 at Rupp Arena).
Mark Pope went 1-1 against Gonzaga, earning an overtime win in Seattle in 2024. Reach sports trending writer Alaina Morris at amorris@gannett. com and follow her on X at @alainammorris.
