Araújo joined the club as a free agent from Portuguese side Benfica, where she played under current Boston head coach Filipa Patão.

Patão was full of praise for the Brazilian defender, stating that, “She’s a player that already understands the dynamics, the process, she came from an environment where she worked with me and it’s an advantage because she already knows what she needs to do. ” “But that’s not all it is,” Patão continued. “Her leadership, the capacity to read the game, to understand what she needs to do, and the comfort with the ball that she brings to the team… this capacity to communicate and to lead the defense is something that brings us this comfort and helps the team to grow.

” After missing the first five games of the season due to injury, the 30-year-old team captain has started in every match since for the Legacy, quickly cementing her place in the squad.
