Derrick Henry loves Ravens' new competitive practices
Derrick Henry says Ravens players love the competitive energy new coach Jesse Minter is bringing to OTA practices.
The Ravens are still only in OTAs, but Jesse Minter is already trying to create competitive situations whenever possible. That included the medicine ball competition, which closed practice and quickly became one of the more talked-about moments of the session. Derrick Henry said players are enjoying the added energy and competitive atmosphere the new coaching staff is bringing to practice.
More importantly, he believes those moments are helping strengthen chemistry throughout the roster. Even small competitions this time of year can help create accountability and camaraderie, especially for a team trying to establish a new identity under a first-year head coach. During OTA media availability, Henry said: โYes, the guys love it.
It's something different. It gives us a chance to compete against each other and do things together. I think [head coach Jesse Minter] just adds a new aspect to the practice and the vision he has for us, and what he sees that will help us get better.
โ That probably captures what the Ravens are trying to accomplish this offseason overall: keep practices competitive, keep players engaged, and continue building chemistry before training camp arrives.
