Corentin Tolisso in talks with Lyon over contract extension Having enjoyed a successful 2025-26 season with Olympique Lyonnais – statistically the best of his career (15 goals and six assists in 39 matches) – Corentin Tolisso (31) is already looking to the future. A future he envisages sharing with the club that moulded him, to which he returned in the summer of 2022 after five years with Bayern Munich. And whilst his current contract runs until June 2027, the Gones captain has, in an interview with Le Progrès , already mentioned discussions with the club’s management regarding the signing of a potential contract extension.
“I have a year left on my contract and we’ve started talking with the club. I hope we’ll be able to reach an agreement, but given what’s happened this year, with this new role in the team and what I want to do with my life more broadly, of course I want to stay at OL,” said the Rhône-based number 8. Speaking of his ambition “to be the captain who lifts a trophy once again” with Les Rouge et Bleu , Tolisso sees himself as the ambassador for an entity where “an exceptional mentality reigns, with no one above anyone else” , for a club that has “greatness” , and for a “place where the bond with the fans is unique” .
At 31, the midfielder therefore imagines himself still wearing the captain’s armband for a few more years. Perhaps even until the end of his career, although “nothing is 100% certain for the future” . Be that as it may, it is hard to imagine Tolisso signing on for another spell without agreeing to take a pay cut, his wages having become too high for a club constantly threatened by a precarious financial situation.
