A look at Mac McClung's stint with the Lakers.

Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary. During the Lakers' 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.

After going undrafted in 2021, Mac McClung, a 6-foot-2 guard, was signed by the Lakers that summer. He was then waived in October and joined the Chicago Bulls , only to come back to the Lakers late that season. He appeared in one game with the Purple and Gold that year and totaled six points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 22 minutes.

Since then, McClung has played for four teams and has put up unimpressive stats while also spending time in the G League. But he became best known for winning the NBA's Slam Dunk Contest three years in a row beginning in 2023. He has also won two G League MVP awards and led the G League in scoring twice.

To date, he has an NBA career average of 5. 9 points in 12. 4 minutes a game.
