Georgia baseball catcher Daniel Jackson was one of the top overall players in the nation across the 2026 regular season

Star Georgia Bulldogs catcher Daniel Jackson has been named as the SEC Player of the Year, per Georgia baseball . Jackson is the third Bulldog in program history to win the award, and the catcher has been rewarded following a historic 2026 regular season campaign in Athens. Jackson was elite throughout the entirety of 2026, and the junior was the first catcher and sixth player in NCAA history ever to record 25 steals and 25 home runs in a season.

The superstar catcher recorded a team-high . 394 batting average on the year, as Jackson was widely regarded as a top player in both the SEC and the nation throughout 2026. Jackson captured the SEC regular season triple crown this year as well, as the talented junior hit 27 total home runs and 77 RBIs in addition to batting .

394 on the season, which were all most in the conference. Former Georgia star Charlie Condon was most recently named as the SEC Player of the Year in 2024 during his time with the Bulldogs. Gordon Beckham won the award at Georgia in 2008 as well, and Jackson has now cemented himself in Georgia baseball history for years to come following the announcement.

The catcher will certainly need to remain at his best during the SEC Tournament this weekend, but Jackson has been rewarded for an unreal season in 2026 nonetheless. Georgia baseball ended the 2026 campaign with an overall record of 43-12 ( 23-7 SEC ). Jackson and the rest of the Dawgs’ lineup will be back in action on Thursday afternoon against either Mississippi State, Ole Miss or Missouri, as Georgia will now look to make a run throughout the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama.
