Jason Kidd is no longer the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks after five seasons with the franchise. Dallas announced Tuesday that both sides agreed to part ways , ending a run that included a trip to the NBA Finals and one of the most chaotic stretches in recent team history. The Mavericks just finished 26-56 and missed the playoffs again. Kidd also had three losing seasons during his time in Dallas. But the deeper numbers tell a more complicated story.

Kidd finished with a 205-205 regular-season record and a 22-18 playoff mark in Dallas. He led the Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals in 2022 and then to the NBA Finals in 2024. He also produced two 50-win seasons during a period where the Western Conference remained loaded with contenders.
