Texas A&M O-line coach ranked 5th nationally and No. 2 in the SEC

Texas A&M's 2026 NFL Draft class included a record ten players selected late last month, while former transfer wide receiver KC Concepcion was the lone first-round pick, going 24th overall to the Cleveland Browns, who are in desperate need of another offensive playmaker. While six of the ten players selected were former transfers, four starting offensive linemen heard their names called, with left guard Chase Bisontis being selected with the second pick in the second round by the Arizona Cardinals, and left tackle Trey Zuhn III was selected in the bottom of the third round by the Las Vegas Raiders. Both players are considered first-year starters, especially if Zuhn ends up switching to center, and in the sixth round, former starting right tackle Dametrious Crownover is looking to solidify a spot with the New England Patriots, while right guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams was the final Aggie offensive lineman selected by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round.

This offseason, coach Mike Elko and offensive line coach Adam Cushing went to work in the transfer portal, landing four SEC starters, who could all start at left tackle, left guard, right guard, and right tackle next season, and will compete with several redshirt freshmen/sophomores from the 2025 signing class. On the recruiting trail, Elko and Cushing have already landed commitments from four-star tackles DaMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Kent, paired with five-star IOL Kennedy Brown, and the cycle's prized commit, five-star tackle Mark Matthews , who is Rivals' No. 1-ranked tackle in the class.

Whether earning widespread praise as a developer or recruiter, Adam Cushing should be considered tied with Miami OL coach Alex Mirabal as the top offensive line coach in college football, but according to a recent ranking, Cushing comes in fifth below several notable names, including Mirabal at No. 1. Joe Rudolph (Notre Dame), Jim Harding (Michigan), and Phil Trautwein (Florida) are solid choices for 2, 3, and 4, but given Cushing's recent success, it's clear that he'll be contending for the No.
