Two Wisconsin greats facing off for trip to Stanley Cup Final
Both the Eastern and Western Conference Finals are set and two former Wisconsin Badgers players have a chance to punch their ticket to a Stanley Cup Final. The NHL playoffs are down to four teams, though it's worth noting Badgers fans don't have anyone to root for in the Colorado Avalanche vs. Vegas Golden Knights series.
As for the Eastern Conference, that's where things get interesting . Cole Caufield's Montreal Canadiens pulled out an incredible 3-2 overtime victory against the Buffalo Sabres to secure their spot in the ECF against the Carolina Hurricanes . Remarkably, K'Andre Miller's Hurricanes haven't played a game since May 9.
Carolina is an incredible 8-0 this postseason, which means Caufield and company have a mountain to climb should he want to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. Either way, Badgers fans will have someone to root for in the 2026 Stanley Cup Finals. Either Caufield or Miller will be playing for the NHL's most prestigious trophy, one numerous Wisconsin alumni have hoisted up in the past.
