Genk open to sale of talented winger as club looking to change their approach According to HLN , Genk have informed Jarne Steuckers that they will be open to selling him this summer. The former Sint Truiden wide man was highly rated just a few seasons ago, with Genk paying a minimal release fee to bring him in from their local rivals. Despite a strong first season, with nine goals and 12 assists in 42 games, Steuckers is now on his way out.
According to reports, Genk are looking to change their style of play out wide and donโt see Steuckers as fitting into the new system. This season he has failed to score a goal in 39 appearances, but has contributed 10 assists. While he has a contract until 2028, Genk will see if there are any interested buyers this summer.
Having only spent around โฌ800k on the 24-year-old, they should easily make a profit, even if they donโt reach the โฌ8m he is valued at on Transfermarkt. Genk already have Junya Ito back at the club, a more direct winger than Steuckers. With Ayumu Yokoyama and Noah Adedeji-Sternberg also on the books, Genk are hoping to go for players like the latter two over the former Sint Truiden man.
There should certainly be interest within Belgian and even Dutch football for Steuckers. The winger has played well under Thorsten Fink, who is currently head coach of Turkish side Samsunspor. That may well be a side interested in acquiring him to partner him with Fink once again.
