Giants' Arvel Reese projected to finish behind Sonny Styles in key stat

New York Giants rookie LB Arvell Reese is projected to finish behind Sonny Styles in one key stat.

New York Giants linebacker Arvell Reese is predicted to finish among the rookie leaders in a key statistical category next season. ESPN’s Mike Clay projects Reese to finish No. 2 among all rookies in total tackles in 2026 with 116.

Washington Commanders linebacker Sonny Styles is predicted to finish No. 1 in total tackles with 123. Reese comes in close behind Styles, his former teammate at Ohio State, in a Giants system that will allow him to be active in the second line of defense as the team’s starting inside linebacker.

Styles' projection is a big one, as 122 would be sixth most among rookies over the past decade. The large number isn't by accident, as the No. 7 overall pick is expected to replace Bobby Wagner as a near-every-down player in the middle of Washington's defense.

Reese (No. 5 overall) was selected before Styles, but his role (is he more of an edge or an off-ball linebacker? ) is a little less clear.
