Fairview, Girard, Harbor Creek move on in D-10 baseball playoffs

Girard had a walk-off win, while Fairview and Harbor Creek had dominant pitching performances in the District 10 baseball playoffs.

The Girard baseball team seemed destined for a big win throughout the afternoon at Mercyhurst University. Whether it was throwing a no-hitter through five innings or making a comeback in the sixth inning, the YellowJackets were ready to tell an exciting story in the District 10 Class 3A baseball quarterfinals. It was Ryan St.

Julien that decided to author that story. With Levi Potter representing the winning run on second base, St. Julien went with an outside pitch and dropped it down the right-field line for a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning of a 4-3 win over Franklin on May 19.

“I had to be patient and wait for the pitch that I wanted and to stay through it,” St. Julien said. “I just hoped it stayed fair with the wind blowing.

The YellowJackets take on Sharon on May 22 at a site and time to be determined, while Franklin ends the season 11-10.
