Jaguars address defensive front in early 2027 NFL mock draft
In a very early 2027 NFL mock draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars addressed the defensive front.
In a very early 2027 NFL mock draft from Josh Edwards of CBS Sports, the Jacksonville Jaguars add to the defensive tackle position. When looking at mock drafts nearly a year in advance, accurately projecting who the Jaguars might actually take is a nearly impossible task. So much will change between now and then, including prospect rankings and positional needs.
That said, what mocks can provide us with is some players to keep our eyes on as the upcoming college football season unfolds. After not having a first-round pick in 2026, the Jaguars are projected to hold the 16th overall pick in Edwards' 2027 mock, and with that selection, Jacksonville picked Oklahoma defensive lineman David Stone. Seeing significant snaps for the first time in 2025, Stone recorded 26 pressures and two sacks as a pass rusher.
He was also one of PFF's higher graded defensive tackles against the run. "David Stone is a gifted athlete who is hoping to put it all together for the Sooners," Edwards wrote. "Playing time should be more readily available now that Gracen Halton and Damonic Williams have moved on to theย NFL .
" Defensive tackle was thought to be a position of need this offseason for the Jaguars and could very well remain one in 2027. As of now, at a position already short on depth, Arik Armstead, DaVon Hamilton, and Matt Dickerson are all set to be free agents next offseason.
