Two former Bundesliga coaches on Gladbach’s shortlist
Two former Bundesliga coaches on Gladbach’s shortlist Despite Eugen Polanski (40) steering Borussia Mönchengladbach clear of relegation, the Pole’s future at the club remains unclear. Sporting director Rouven Schröder has dedicated this week to a thorough analysis of the season before making a decision on the coach’s future. As such, Bild report that Schröder has already drawn up a shortlist should they part ways with Polanski.
Dino Toppmöller and Adi Hütter are both too expensive and, therefore, out of the running, while Steffen Baumgart, who is available, has links too close to Cologne. But there are two names on Schröder’s shortlist. Schröder knows Sandro Schwarz from their time together at Mainz 05, and they also worked together in the Red Bull network.
The former Hertha Berlin head coach averaged 1. 41 points per game in the Bundesliga, and most recently coached New York Red Bulls. Domenico Tedesco is the other name at the top of Schröder’s list.
The German-Italian guided Schalke 04 to a runners-up finish in 2017/18 before coaching Spartak Moscow (2019-2021 and RB Leipzig (2021-2022) before spending two years as Belgian head coach, where he had a falling out with Thibaut Courtois. Most recently, Tedesco coached Fenerbahce in the Turkish Süper Lig but despite averaging 2. 14 points per game, was still dismissed.
According to Bild , talks have already taken place with both coaches. GGFN | Daniel Pinder
