Commanders WR Terry McLaurin reacts to getting 10 targets per game
What does Terry McLaurin think of David Blough's goal of giving him 10 targets or more per game?
When the Washington Commanders promoted David Blough to offensive coordinator in January, it was a move made to get the most out of superstar quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels was terrific in former coordinator Kliff Kingsbury's offense, but the scheme itself had limited growth potential. In promoting Blough, head coach Dan Quinn wanted an offense that featured Daniels more under center, more play-action, and less as a runner.
Blough's new offense would also create more opportunities for No. 1 receiver Terry McLaurin. McLaurin had his best season under Kingsbury in 2024, but dealt with injuries last season.
A common knock on Kingsbury is that he doesn't move his outside receivers around the formation pre-snap to create mismatches. Not under Blough. After his promotion, Blough spoke about the type of offense he would run.
One thing, in particular, stood out. Blough said the offense would be built to feature McLaurin. "These guys, whether they're sparking a long run in the running game with blocking on the perimeter, or creating explosive passes, this thing is going to be built around how do we get Terry 10 targets a game?
