On Sky Sports this morning, Spurs fans Jamie O’Hara grudgingly admitted that the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the new manager was a shocking good one from Chelsea. O’Hara praises Chelsea’s decisive move “I cannot believe that Liverpool have dropped the ball and not gone and got him, because I think he’s a brilliant manager,” O’Hara said. “He’s young, he’s been successful, you know, he’s going to have the respect of every player he has in his team.
And I think it’s a real coup for Chelsea to get it over the line, because they have been in disarray with managers. Rosenior was a disaster, and now they’ve got a top class manager, a real top class manager. ” It’s a sentiment we’ve seen repeated from all over, including from people like Jamie Carragher.
We’re almost worried about expectations being too high at this point. Luckily a dire end to this season should mean the new man has a very easy time improving things quickly, even if there is a lot of work to be done. In other news… Xabi Alonso has the perfect setup to make a great start at Chelsea next season, for a few reasons.
