Real Madrid president ‘incredibly motivated’ for upcoming elections Florentino Perez’s outburst and impulsive media session after the defeat in El Clasico saw the Real Madrid president address facets of his life and presidency that have seldom been talked about. What it also did, however, was openly announce elections for the presidency. Over the years, Perez has largely remained unopposed, and understandably so given how he is almost synonymous with the institution at this point.

Sources inside the Real Madrid camp state that the 79-year-old is incredibly motivated this summer and that they have not seen him so active and aggressive for years. Perez did not think Riquelme would actually step up to oppose him in the election, but since the update yesterday, he now believes there will be elections this summer. Yet, he is not afraid of the potential outcome or the debates that Riquelme demands.

What he demands, however, are two professional debates to challenge and potentially expose the loopholes in Perez’s presidency. His biggest hurdle, however, is that he barely has any time to make a case for himself. His candidacy must be officially presented by May 23rd, and the coming days will thus be eventful in that sense.
