San Antonio Spurs star center Victor Wembanyama orchestrated a two-way masterclass against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night.

The former No. 1 overall pick did it all in the first game of the Western Conference Finals, using his unreal length/wingspan, wizard-like slashing ability, timely three-point shooting, and awe-inspiring rim protection to a hard-fought 122-115 victory over the defending champs. Wembanyama recorded 41 points, 24 rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 49 minutes.

While the 22-year-old’s brilliance was the primary topic of discussion during the contest, another intriguing subject came to light. Late in the third quarter, NBA analyst Reggie Miller suggested that Wembanyama may be breaking a major NBA rule. “Somewhere, Giannis Antetokounmpo is saying, ‘Wait a minute,” Miller stated.

"Every time Wemby goes to the free-throw line, it’s very close and borderline to 10 seconds. ” For clarity, Miller referenced Antetokounmpo because the two-time MVP has urged referees to closely monitor opponents at the foul line, as he’s under the impression that many of them are taking 10 or more seconds to launch their free throws. To Miller’s point, Wembanyama did take his time while attempting his 13 free throws, mainly due to his cool, calm, and collected technique approach.
