James Wood lifts Washington Nationals to 9-6 win vs New York Mets
An inside the park grand slam from James Wood highlights the Washington Nationals win against the New York Mets
After missing multiple opportunities to walk it off in last night's game, the Nationals took it personally after the Mets got 10 runs in extra innings. They ensured that they wouldn’t let that be the case in game two after they defeated the Mets 9-6 Tuesday night. Two batters in, Mets Bo Bichette hit a two run homerun to get the rain delayed game started.
Four straight hits for the Mets to start the game. A sacrifice fly by Marcus Semien brought in yet another runner, Juan Soto, for the Mets to continue their strong offensive first inning. The Mets would have three runs on four hits to open the first inning.
The Mets would keep tacking on the runs going into the second inning. Once again, it’s Bichette who becomes a problem for the Nationals tonight. He found himself hitting another two-run homer to make it 5-0 Mets.
The Nationals would need to generate some sort of offense if they wanted to see any action and keep themselves in the game before the Mets lead gets out of control. The bottom of the second inning would be the start of the Nationals strong offensive run. With bases loaded for the Nationals, James Wood steps up to the plate looking to take care of business.
