PSG Receives Bad News in Pursuit of Russian Prospect Aleksey Batrakov
PSG has received bad news in its pursuit of Lokomotiv Moscow's Aleksey Batrakov. A Russian pundit says no contact has been made and the club is 'very far' from signing him.
Always looking for the biggest gems in European football, PSG has long been following the progress of young Aleksey Batrakov, a prodigious attacking midfielder at Lokomotiv Moscow. In this case, however, Luis Campos received very bad news. An entire club is actively working toward conquering a second star, a second consecutive Champions League title.
Enough to make PSG enter even further into the history of French football. Luis Enrique and his staff are confident in their strengths and are preparing as best they can for the May 30 deadline in Budapest. For his part, Campos aims to find new players for next season to reinforce a squad that should not move much this summer.
Looking for an attacking midfielder capable of playing high up the pitch, the Parisian sporting director checked Batrakov's name. But if speculation increasingly announces that he is close to signing with PSG, a chill has recently been cast over the case. Konstantin Genich, a former Russian soccer player turned consultant and television commentator, admitted that he does not believe in Batrakov's transfer to PSG, in comments relayed by TransferFeed .
According to him, the capital club is rather looking for a defensive midfielder than a No. 10, and it would be better to go find a Czech player - if Campos' desire is really to sign a player from Eastern Europe - who would cost half as much and have the same profile, rather than recruiting Batrakov. Worse still for the former player: "PSG is very far from signing him.
