May 19—MITCHELL — Led by individual medalist Trey Speer, the Chamberlain girls golf team won the Region 3A tournament title on Tuesday at Lakeview Golf Course. Chamberlain finished with a team total of 374 strokes, with Speer's 83-stroke round leading the way. Individually, the Cubs also placed Natalie Nelson (94) in third, Jayde McQuirk (96) in fifth and Creed Harmon (101) in 10th to round out the team score.

Notably, Tuesday marked Speer's second event victory at Lakeview this season, adding to the Parkston Invite from April. Though seven schools were represented at the regional meet, only three fielded the four golfers needed to post a team score. Behind Chamberlain, Winner (390) was second with Mount Vernon/Plankinton (474) in third.

All three qualified for the Class A state tournament, which is set for June 1-2, at Two Rivers Golf Club in North Sioux City. The top 15 individuals also qualified for the Class A state tournament. Gracie Root took second place individually for Winner, four strokes back of Speer at 87 strokes.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte's Isabella Ganje (96) rounded out the individual top five. Alongside Root, four other Warriors — Claire Pravecek (98), Payton Sargent (100), Kenli Pollard (105) and Reese Halligan (113) — checked in between seventh and 13th in the standings. Parkston, the tournament host, was led by sixth-place finisher Kathryn Bialas (97), along with Karlie Konfrst (115) in 15th.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton's Brooklyn Bosma (100) landed in ninth place. The remaining individual qualifiers from Region 3A were Todd County's Keani Pollard (113, 12th) and Parker's Nessa Erickson (113, 14th).
