OFA girls, Malone boys post intense lacrosse wins
The OFA girls relied on defense while the Malone boys were constantly on the attack to post wins in Monday’s NAC lacrosse action. OFA 8 - PHS 4: The Lady Blue Devils held the Hornets scoreless in the second half and received well-rounded leadership from Brooke Irvine who delivered four goals and one assist and won 11 of 15 draws. Quinn Duprey backstopped the win with 11 saves.
“We played a remarkable second half on defense. We held them scoreless while scoring two goals,” said OFA Coach Jake Jeneault. Maddy Costello scored a pair of goals, Quinn Jacobs tallied one goal with one assist, Avery LaPage and Kenna Stull netted one goal and Kyra McCarthy passed out an assist.
Elizabeth Burnham tallied three goals with one assist for PHS and Alexis Thorton made seven saves in goal. Malone 13 - SLLP 12: The Huskies gained an overtime win on Senior Night when both teams maintained high energy on a hot night at Crowner Field. “It was a great game to watch and I am very proud of our boys.
They were exhausted with the heat for sure but kept on pushing and SLLP never stopped either,” said Malone Coach Chris Yaw. Jake Reynolds scored five goals with two assists for Malone and Blake Holthaus scored three goals. Ayden Cox of Malone and Red Storm keeper Charlie Wilson each finished with eight saves.
