Ron Harper headlines Miami University Hall of Fame class of 2026

Miami University Athletics named its Hall of Fame Class of 2026 on May 19, and it's headlined by a five-time NBA champion. After receiving an honorary doctorate from Miami on Jan. 31, Ron Harper finally joins the RedHawks Hall of Fame .
Harper is the all-time leading scorer and rebounder for the RedHawks men's basketball team and was the first Miami player to have his jersey retired in 1986. He led Miami to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances before heading to the NBA, where he would win five NBA champions with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers . "It's a great honor for anyone to receive from the university," Harper said when he received his honorary degree.
Harper was the first Mid-American Conference player to surpass 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. He led Miami to two conference championships and still holds a MAC Tournament record with 45 points in a game. Harper was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the eighth overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft, and he went on to average 13.
