NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called the 2019 NFL Draft held in Nashville “one of the greatest fan events” in league history and said playing the Super Bowl at the new $2. 1 billion “the next step in this remarkable football journey.
” The stadium is expected to be complete in time for the 2027 season. The late team founder, Bud Adams, moved the Houston Oilers to Tennessee nearly 30 years ago, playing games as the Tennessee Oilers in Memphis and then at Vanderbilt University before the team adopted the Titans moniker and the current stadium opened. “The vision of Amy Adams Strunk and the Tennessee Titans helped make this moment possible.
With great partners at the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. and Tennessee Titans, we can’t wait to put on an unforgettable show in 2030,” Goodell said in a statement. The NFL Draft drew 600,000 fans seven years ago in Nashville, then a record, and generated $224 million for the economy, according to the NFL release.
