Oak Ridge hires Denard Bertram from Austin-East as next basketball coach
Oak Ridge hired Denard Bertram as its next basketball coach on May 19. Bertram spent the past four seasons at Austin-East.
Oak Ridge has hired Denard Bertram as its next basketball coach, the school announced May 19 on social media. Bertram, who spent the last four seasons at Austin-East, replaces Aaron Green . Green announced after the season he was retiring after 27 years of coaching, 428 career wins and TSSAA state championship appearances in 2014 and 2025.
Oak Ridge finished 18-13 last season was third in District 4-4A. Bertram was previously an assistant under Green at Oak Ridge during their run to the TSSAA state championship game in 2014. Bertram compiled an 82-53 record with the Roadrunners and led them to a state tournament appearance in 2024.
He also coached at Midway and Concord Christian, and was an assistant on Harriman's Class A state championship team in 2017. Wynton Jackson covers high school sports for Knox News. Email: wynton.
